So, in order to spare my fellow Space Marine fans the effort of rewatching every multiplayer video of Space Marine, I've decided to put together a list of all weapon, perk, and armor customization options for both Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines so that you can begin creating your future marine now and have it ready when September 9th hits. I'll try to keep it updated as new information comes in over the next six weeks!
(If you see an empty entry, it's because I couldn't find the official description in any videos yet. If you can find them post them below and I'll add them in! An Open Mind Is Like A Fortress, With Its Gates Unbarred And Unguarded.
As far as the actual rule books (codexs) for the marines go they ignore armour.
Although it is unfortunate to us 40k nerds that the differences between Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines are only cosmetic in the multiplayer of this game, it makes sense from a game design perspective because the majority of their effort has been on the campaign and multiplayer is an incredibly complicated thing to do right.
That being said, they could have done it a lot worse, and at least this way they can ensure that there's no issues with making one team stronger than the other. Besides, as Tactical, Devastators/Havocs, and Assault/Raptors go tabletop-wise, they aren't really -that- different from their opposing equivalents.
These are the actual stats currently shown in-game for all the weapons. I agree, I was also confused when I saw that the damage/speed values for the Power Sword were exactly the same as the Chainsword, seeing as the Power Sword is by far a superior weapon in every respect.
My guess is that either they made them equal in strength so that people who didn't purchase Kill Team or the Collector's Edition wouldn't be given an in-game advantage over players who did not, or the current representation of melee weapon damage values in the Customizer doesn't represent the actual effectiveness of the weapon.
